Technovation is the world’s largest and
longest running tech competition for girls. In Technovation, teams of young
women identify a problem, create an app to solve it, code the app, build a
company to launch the app in the market, and pitch their plan to experts all in
3 months. Technovation’s applied, project based computer science and
entrepreneurship curriculum reinforces algorithmic thinking and emphasizes the
societal impact of information and technology. It also teaches girls life
skills such as how to identify a problem, design and test a solution,
collaborate with a team, and communicate to different audiences.
Teams pitch and submit their ideas
(through video) and participate in regional competitions (varies by
location).Technovation was established to address the dearth of women in
technology through offering young women the opportunity to become high-tech
Entrepreneurs early in their careers. Since that very first cohort of 50 girls
in 2010 in Mountain View, California, Technovation has grown into a global
competition that has reached almost 3000 girls in 26 countries.
